In a bid to ensure that Ekiti Tourism and Hospitality Stakeholders are abreast of the day by day strides of government towards enhancing the development of the sector, an online news blog has been launched by the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism. The name of the blog is ๐‘ฌ๐’Œ๐’Š๐’•๐’๐’–๐’“๐’Š๐’”๐’Ž.

The Honourable State Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Professor Rasaki Ojo Bakare had charged the officers newly deployed to the Tourism and Hospitality arm of the Ministry to work hard and ensure all relevant stakeholders are carried along. Professor Bakare, while addressing the new Director of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Mr. Adebanji Adelusi, stressed the importance of being target-oriented and diligent. He assured the newly deployed officers of the preparedness of the Ministry to give adequate support to the Department in order to ensure the tourism vision of the current administration is fulfilled.

Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism and Hospitality in the Ministry has been restructured to give effective coverage to various aspects of the sector in the State. The department, now divided into 3 units, is currently headed by Mr. Adebanji Adelusi who was the pioneer Director of Tourism Development when the Ministry was first created under the first regime of Governor John Kayode Fayemi between 2010 and 2014.

Adelusi, while speaking with Ekiti Tourism News, explained that the three units of the Department include: Tourism Infrastructure Development Unit, Hospitality Management Unit and Tourism Education and Events Unit.

According to him, each of these units would be focusing on specific tasks while all the units would engage in joint field visits as a Special Task Force twice in a week for proper regulation, inspection and monitoring of tourism and hospitality activities and businesses across the State. Adelusi however emphasized that the Department would work hand-in-hand with relevant associations within the sector in line with the principles of the Ministry on synergy and collaboration with sectoral stakeholders.

Adelusi urged all owners of hospitality businesses such as restaurants, eateries, bars, beer palours, hotels as well as travels and tourism events operators to complete the registration of their outlets and businesses in accordance with the Ekiti State Tourism and Hospitality Registration and Licensing Law which has taken effect since 2020. According to him, 2 years moratorium is long enough, therefore there would be no tenable excuse for anyone to operate without license.
